This is the story of a hospital complex now known as UM6P Hospitals. Located next to the university, it is the new university hospital of the Smart Health Care City, a modern medical campus that combines health and innovation. UM6P Hospitals consists of 3 intelligently connected compact earthquake-resistant buildings, crossed by fresh air paths and surrounded by a truly green environment. Like a citadel overlooking the avenue, it appears as a haven of peace, a serene, welcoming and protective volume. To the north of the park are the General Hospital and the Rehabilitation Centre. The original heritage of the hospital-university complex has been intelligently designed to allow a configuration of public spaces through the pedestrian axis and the square that articulates the buildings, and a relationship between the buildings themselves, maintaining their independence but connecting them through a common basement housing logistical and technical services. The square is designed as a transitional element. It is the welcoming space where access to the buildings is organised and where the outdoor activities of the rehabilitation centre take place. The simple lines that define the volumetrics are accentuated by the trellises that surround the external façade, while inside this strength gives way to a more human scale with a façade that makes the space more permeable.
